I am here closer than
you could’ve thought me to be.

I claw my way through
Shadows crowding you.
Shredded they fall
fish out of water.
Do you hear their
writhing bodies
and dying gasps?

Mercy, they seem to beg
betrayed by the light that
birthed them,
as they slip through fingers
now stained a
bruising purple,
shattering
into bellows of vapour.

I am near you again.
