bird song, london underground via the feather collective

the sweep of my hand lights
the slow fire of a blush

spreading over searing scars,
awakening pain folded in

three neat squares. i don’t
linger but it’s too late, and as

my hand trails unseen paths,
whole and unbroken, you

in your meticulous way
fold the old horrors, and

when i return, i find
three neat squares.

An unbound,
gypsy soul,
crowned by
the pale gleam
of indecipherable
twilight, stood
poised for flight
when love stole upon it;
their kiss lingered
and lengthened
into velvet nights
and forever dawns.

there are mountains to climb,
and stars to wear upon my hair.
seas and oceans, rivers and lakes –
mighty drifters, moon ravers.

rock roaring demoness
deceptive queen of my mind
tight coil of thoughts,
serpentine braids.

stormy Sunday afternoons
strangers and the strangeness
of love, books, coffee, music, cat,
conversations, poetry, art,
cherry reds and back again.
